sometimes while sleeping i know cause normally i message girlfriend when home or what not and then then this morning she was trying to send me important i messages the last 2 nights and then i noticed the wifi had turned it self of an i got all these messages this morning when i pressed the home button and wifi came back on what causes this how can i fix it

You can't stop it. iOS goes into a sleep mode when it's not active for a long time at night. It turns off the wifi to preserve power (even when plugged in). iPhones do is too but eye leave their 2G data connection on as that doesn't consume much power at all. Instead of relying on an iPod to do this, you should pass off text messaging to something that was actually designed to do that: a phone.
