Hey everyone. So i have a iPod touch 2nd gen that i just fixed up. Its been sitting around for a while & its on iOS 3.1.3. I was wondering if there was any added "collectors" value to this version for like hackers or jailbreakers. Opinions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Not really. You are talking about hardware that is almost 5 years old now. It can only run the basic apps, even ones in the jailbreak community. Right now your iPod is worth about $40 if it is an 8GB model, $60 if its 16GB, and $70-$80 if it has 32GB of storage. As you can see, there definitely isn't any added value there. Even the 4G iPod touch isn't worth much as its hardware is almost 3 years old now and the recently released 5G iPod touch is just such an upgrade above all other models. Its release drastically brought down the value of previous iPod touch models.

I kept using an iPod Touch 2G until last year. Sold it, but wish I had hung onto it as an easy to use game player, ebook reader, and astronomy viewer (I'm a stargazer). It worked like a charm and using it outdoors meant that I wouldn't be as concerned about it as with a newer iPhone or IPT.
I kept at iOS 3.13 as iOS 4 was reported to drain the battery on the IPT 2G and make some apps or the interface run more slowly. Really, truly have fun with it. It works well, quite speedily, and takes a good range of apps. I wanted a camera, a good one, on mine and even thought I might try the cell phone function. In any event, I'd hang onto it--and get an IPT 5G, too!
