I made the mistake of upgrading my 4th generation touch to 6.01. Knowing there's no untethered jailbreak for 6.01 yet but is there any chance of downgrading back to 5.11? I am asking because I tried to do it but I no longer have the SHSH blobs for that OS....Am I SOL at this point?

If you truly don't have the SHSH blobs available, then yes.
However, if you were jailbroken under 5.1.1 and using Cydia the SHSH blobs may have been saved for you. See Save your SHSH blobs for iOS 5.1.1 for more info.

I am trying to follow the steps in the link you sent me....It says to use redsnow and choose my OS which I've done...However its stuck in the "waiting for reboot" mode. Not doing anything just sitting there....Any thoughts?

Unfortunately, I haven't been through that one myself specifically. Are you sure you have the SHSH blobs backed up to Cydia, as otherwise it definitely won't work and various odd things will happen.

Tiny Umbrella found the SHSH blobs for 5.01 and some other ones in the OS 4 range...So is it possible to downgrade from 6.01 to 5.01 using my saved blobs?

Yes, you should be able to do that. Unfortunately, even once you're down at 5.0.1 you won't be able to re-update to 5.1.1 as it's still not signed -- iTunes will want to take you straight back to 6.0.1.
