Any updated info on next gen iPod touch?

Apple is expected to announce the next-generation iPhone at a special media event on September 12...any chance they'll be announcing anything on the touch?

I would enjoy if the next iPod Touch will grow to fit the dimensions of the rumored iPad Mini. Apple has been suspiciously silent for its iPod Touch line for a very long time now.

Ok so far we know that the iPhone 5 is out - no word for iPad. Next Apple event will be in early 2012 when we will learn more about the coming iPad and whether there would be a Mini version. Unless they reveal something on October 19th during their financial results call (which I highly doubt).

Seeing as Apple's annual iPad event normally occurs around April-May of every year, I wouldn't expect anything iPad related until then. I guess it goes to show that the whole iPad mini rumor was just that, a rumor. It might still come out but the rumors pointed to Apple releasing it alongside the iPhone 5 or holding a separate big media event the following month (something Apple has never done) to release it.
