white screen now what

My sons friend iPod touch 3rd gen has a white screen. I did all the tricks to get it back. Restore it twice. Jail broke it. Did the battery thing. Nothing still white screen. At this point can I say the LCD screen is toast and buy him another one. Will replacing the LCD get his iPod back to normal or is it more then that.
Just don't want to buy one put it in and still white screen Thanks.

It might be the logic board as well. You would need a whole screen assembly to put in that iPod touch. A screen assembly has the front glass and LCD display that will plug into the logic board. The main problem is there is absolutely no way to tell if the logic board is at fault or if the screen is. You will have to go through a trial and error process of installing new parts.

If you do that, just make sure that they actually have a 3G iPod touch. The 3G iPod touch did not come in an 8GB capacity. Apple had an 8GB iPod touch that they were selling right alongside the 3G iPod touch models but it was exactly the same as the 2G iPod touch. So keep that in mind if they think they have a 3G 8GB iPod touch as that is impossible.

It is a model A1318 I was told it was a 3G and it is 32 gb. So my next step is buying a whole screen assembly and hope that works.
