Transfer Playlist to iTunes Library

Hello. I have a playlist (only) on my itouch of 615 songs which were pulled out of my existing iTunes library. I would like to just copy that playlist, somehow, and have it reside also in my iTunes library. I know I can spend the hour and create a new playlist in the iTunes library, and manually place all those 615 songs into that new playlist, but that seems like the last thing I want to do, since there SHOULD be a copy/paste or drag/drop option that should allow me to take 30 seconds to duplicate the playlist containing music I already own. Anyone have a 30 second quick fix? Thanks!

You must be manually managing the iPod. The feature you want is there in iTunes when you auto sync the iPod with iTunes. Any playlist created on the iPod will sync back to iTunes when you sync.

Switching to auto sync will erase the ones you have created on the iPod before it will start to transfer them back to iTunes. You are going to have to check out the third party iPod recovery programs if you are manually managing. There may be one out there that will just transfer the playlist but they need the files to make them complete. Most likely you will have to recover the iPod then remove the duplicate music files it creates in iTunes. You are probably better off re-creating the playlist and setting the iPod to auto-sync for the future.

I think you'll need to use a third party program to transfer your playlist to iTunes. The one I used is TouchCopy. The free version, which can copy 100 songs is here... How to transfer music from iPhone to iTunes, Transfer Music from iPod to iTunes - TouchCopy

Use the Smart backup function of CopyTrans. This will transfer only data on your iPhone which does not already exist within your iTunes library.

If you have the tracks loaded in your iTunes library but not your playlists, it is the playlist entries which CopyTrans will transfer to your library from your iPhone; naturally, with the playlists' respective contents.

For more info have a look this previous thread:

It's easy! Just export the playlist to a folder or the desktop, then import it into your iTunes library.

To export it just right click on the iPod playlist and select export. Choose a folder, and save playlist.

To import it use File-->Add To Library--> import Playlist on the menu ( top left). Locate the file and select it.
