can't copy music from ipod to comp.

I have tried the steps from online help to copy the music files. Everyone has the same steps. I go to the tools and check "show hidden files & folders". But when I click ok there is not the file there that the online said there would be. I need to copy the songs from one ipod touch to my new ipod touch. The songs are not on the computer because that computer crashed. Please help me. I can not even figure out how to burn them on a cd.

The steps you were following was probably for a click wheel iPod. An iOS based iPod touch or iPhone requires additional software to recover music. Read Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide for a better understanding. Sorry, the article is getting dated and I can not recommend any software. A Google search should find many solutions or simply look through the thread here, it is a very common question.

Once you have recovered your music and rebuilt an iTunes Library run out and get a USB hard drive for an additional copy for a back up. A good back up regime should consist of at least 2 copies of your irreplaceable files. The copy on any iPod should not be considered a part of your back ups.
