IPod Touch 1st Gen Can i upgrade to get Apps

Ive just opened a Ipod touch 1st Generation S/W 1.1.1 i had im my draw since 2007.

Had trouble getting it to connect to itunes but after a while i have got in working and upgraded to 1.1.5.

I'm looking to upgrade it to accept APPs but itunes says 1.15 is the latest.
I would ideally like to jailbreak it so all apps would be free but would be happy to upgrade just to get free apps onto it.

cheers in advance

Also do you have to pay for a upgrade through itunes or can it be done any other way for Free.

Have tried itunes store but no luck ?

have read as many posts as possible today and see that 3.1.3 is the end of the road for a 1st gen Touch , once that gets apps thats fine.
And have used the links which are supposed to get you to link to your itunes to upgrade , but still no luck.
but most seem to be on 2.? to get you to 3.1.3 were im on 1.1.5 only {wondering is that the problem.

Apple goofed up its accounting procedures, and wound up having to charge for the upgrade from 1.x -- you can get up to v3.1.3 after paying $4 or $5. Here's the Apple article describing the upgrade, with a link to the Store page.

After you updated to Itunes version 10.2 and OS 3.1.3..

log in your Wifi.. go to Safari and type in jailbreakme and jail break your ipod

Search on google for iTunes 10.2 and firmaware 1g touch 3.1.3 download it down and your good to go

Good luck

Sorry didn't know you can't put site up here.

Dude, what the Hell is wrong with you? You can't post links to torrent sites for people to download copy protected material that is not form a source approved from the copyright holder. What's next? Are you going to post a torrent link to a new movie, an album, or how about a PC game?

In this case, you can only post a link to download iOS directly from Apple as I can already tell you that The Pirate Bay is not an approved method of distributing Apple's portable operating system.
