iPod Touch 4G Water Damage?

Well, I was really stupid yesterday. (Saturday Afternoon) I was Skateboarding with a friend across my town (Nobody uses cars here) right after it rained and I was going downhill a sidewalk, then my friend stopped. I kept going because im not the best at stopping (Haha) and turned to the left and was greeted by a huge puddle. I completely fell off and skidded across the sidewalk. It was a pretty deep puddle. My iPod 4G was in the side that I skidded on. I instantly checked to see if it was working. It was working 100%.

Later, I tried to turn it on to play music but it wouldn't turn on. When I got to my friends house I connected it to his computer and tried to turn it on. It instantly acted like nothing had happened and had 90% battery like it did before I hit it. So I didn't worry about it. The next day I was watching Southpark on my iPod and halfway through the episode instantly half the screen turns white. I can use it perfectly. Just that half of the ipod is REALLY white. Not 100% white, but I can't really see it. So I've been googling around to see if I could find anything similar. I couldn't.

So I decided to post here. Any suggestions? It's still Under 90 Day Warranty. The 90 Day Warranty finishes the day after Christmas.

You may be out of luck and have to replace the iPod. If you ever get an electronic device wet, NEVER EVER turn it on. Instead, fill a bowl with uncooked rice, bury the iPod in the rice and cover the bowl with plastic wrap. The rice will absorb the water after four or five days. Then you can remove the device and turn it on. If you are lucky it will work.

Since you have turned it on with the insides moist or wet, you probably have damaged the screen or some other electrical parts. Apple has a test strip inside the iPod which will change color if the device has gotten wet. If you take it to the Apple store they will find the strip and void your warrantee. I carry my iPod Touch inside a zip lock plastic sandwich bag. If the bag gets wet the iPod will stay dry. They are cheap and I replace the bag when it gets worn.

Music still plays fine on it.

Oh well.

Did you read what was posted above? Find a container (perferably a zip lock clear plastic container with one of those blue lids), fill it with rice, put the iPod somewhere in the middle, seal the container, and let it sit for a week. Don't try to turn the iPod on, don't test it down the line, and don't do anything with it until that week is up.

Apple WILL NOT replace, fix, or repair your iPod as they can tell when a unit has been damaged by water. User damage is NOT covered under Apple's warranty. They will look at it, see that the strip has changed color, and send it back to you (or give it back to you if you are at an Apple store). There are always 3rd party services that can repair iPods but they can be expensive.

Does it have to be airtight? I put it in the middle of a bag of rice.

Yes, otherwise the rise with absorb moisture from the atmosphere and not from the iPod. The rice and iPod need to be sealed off in order for this to work.
