I've got a new iPod Touch. I have it set to manually manage music. When I create a playlist on the iPod and then connect it to the computer, it disappears. The playlist no longer appears on the iPod or in iTunes. Is there some setting whereby playlists created on the iPod transfer to iTunes? At a minimum, they should not be automatically deleted.
My kids have the previous generation Nanos and they do not have this problem -- when they create a playlist on their iPod it shows up on iTunes and stays on the iPod unless/until deleted. Can anyone help with this? |

Solved my own problem. I've been manually adding and removing music from the iPod. I had assumed that new playlists created on the iPod would automatically transfer (as they do on my kids' Nanos) but that is not the case, and as I mentioned, not only do they not automatically transfer, but they disappear, UNLESS ... you click on the Sync button with the iPod connected. When you do that, the playlists magically appear.

Can you elaborate on how you fixed this, because my ipod is doing this as well and I can't figure out how to make it stop? Thanks.

Try the sync button method I mentioned above. All I remember is that is what I did and it worked.

Here is closely-related thread:
Transfer Playlist to iTunes Library It is amazing how despite going for the "Manually manage music" option, iTunes still makes changes to the device once it is connected. |
