FaceTime for iPod touch...

I'm loving the fact that the new iPod touch is going to have facetime, but how is this going to work? You don't have a phone number on an iPod so it won't work like an iPhone where it connects to a contact. Will it use your Apple account to identify you? Steve didn't really talk much about the new iPod touch :/

From the touch feature list

FaceTime on iPod touch makes it possible. FaceTime works right out of the box — just enter your Apple ID and email address. Or create a new email account just for FaceTime.

I'm guessing it works using push services which in my experience can take around 3 minutes for your recipient to receive the email (using gmail to gmail) - maybe using our apple ID's or a designated FaceTime email address helps to facilitate an immediate FaceTime connection. - I'm looking forward to finding out..

Thanks for clarifying! It'll be interesting to see how they connect. It probably won't work for me to receive a facetime call while on campus because the network admin made it so that only established connections are allowed through the access list, which is why push doesn't work while I'm there... Fetch works fine on my 2nd gen at school but push won't.
