OS 3.1.1 ipod touch 2nd gen stuck in recovery mode when update !

i tried updating my ipod touch 2nd gen with the OS 3.1.1 and got stucked in the recovery mode, any of u experienced the same thing?

most imptly, any help!? thanks!

Yeh i just bought a new 32GB today and i went to update it to 3.1.1 and now its also stuck in restore/recovery mode.. Wtf! not happy with my first ipod...

Same here....updated a first gen iPod touch and got stuck into recovery mode.
I had to restore the iPod, After restoring it automatically installed the 3.1.1 which is currently working fine, but of course my iPod was empty and had the resync all of my music, videos and apps.

Also, even with latest iTunes and latest 3.1.1 I still can´t see Genius mix on my iPod.....

finally fixed it. I had to hold home and the hold button till it went into restore mode. Then tried to restore in itunes which failed like 4 or 5 times and 6th time lucky. so far not happy ipod... i remember my first day with my previous mp3player, died completely. I'm not having any luck with this ipod either.

Me too. My 2G was fine until I purchased the 3.1 yesterday. I did not have the 3.0 installed. After going thru 15 minutes of installation, it froze on the Itunes icon without completing the installation. PC said to restore. Tried that and went thru 10 minutes of restoration to have it say can't restore. Then (on final day of my warranty), I schlepped it to the Apple store and they restored it using their own program. But--of course I had to re-load everything that I had on Itunes. Also--at Apple I purchased the extended warranty after that experience. Funny--odd--exactly one year from date of purchase.
