cannot connect to wifi

My touch will not connect to the internet. I've had this problem for quite some time. I have a secure connection. I believe it was this forum that helped me a while back to connect initially. Then out of the blue I couldn't connect and it took days to figure that out, with someone again assisting me.

A month ago my touch suddenly stopped connecting again (it seems to be quite random). And without too much hassle, it connected again.

Today I upgraded to 3.0 and it's not connecting again. I'm not sure if it's related to 3.0 or not since I've had so many problems in the past.

I've read to upgrade my router, but then I also read that people's routers have crashed right after a firmware upgrade. I have WRT54G with a v1.01.

I have tried renewing the lease, forgetting the network, resetting the network settings, restarting my touch (all things I remember from the last time). Everything says it's not connected (with an error) but at various times it does show the wireless icon in the upper left icon (earlier this evening it was. The more I messed with it, it stopped showing that). The IP address most often does NOT show up.

Can anyone PLEASE help me figure this out??? I'm getting frustrated and don't have enough technology smarts to figure it out on my own. Hopefully I've given enough information. Thanks!

I had the same problem, I found a simple way of fixing it. All you have to do is turn off your modem and let it reboot again. Then turn on your ipod. It should automatically pick up wi-fi.
