The Touch and Exchange Server

I got the Touch from my wife on Valentine's Day. 'Liking it a lot. But then there's the dreaded connection with the Exchange server at the college where I teach. I got it to receive mail although it takes a very long time. 'Got it to send with the help of an IT staff guy while on the college's network. 'Got home, tried to send an email and there it was yet again endlessly attempting to send.
I should point out that I do have Mail Coaster working fine but would still like the very cool email application to function.
Any suggestions will most certainly be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I'm guessing you need to be on your college network for email. If you want to do it from home, you probably need to VPN into the college network for email access.

VPN = Virtual Private Network. Basically it's a secure connection between wherever you have internet access and your college's network. You can find configuration screen on your iPod Touch at Settings > General > Network > VPN. You'll need to talk to your admin at your college to see if he can get you the login info to the network.

I'll give it a try. I'm not sure how 'Touch-Friendly" our IT folks will be. But will check. Thanks.
Another question - will changing over to the VPN settings affect my Wi-Fi settings and network?

I believe it will - haven't used VPN on the iPod Touch myself (my IT department won't set Exchange Server up to allow me to access it).
