Question Default setting for "Auto Lock"

I believe the default value for the "Auto Lock" setting of the iPod touch is "1 minute," meaning the display will turn off after one minute. However, a friend says his two iPod touches both have it set to "Never" by default. He got his first one about a few weeks ago, and he had it exchanged due to the faulty battery. His second unit is set like that, too. How can this be? Has Apple changed the default setting to "Never" recently?

Well, that's entirely possible that Apple changed the factory default for that setting. I can't think of a reason why, though. Are you positive this "friend" is accurate?

I am not entirely sure he's accurate; that is why I'm asking around. If others like the forum posters here have had the same experience, that'll give his story more credibility. Otherwise, chances are he's totally confused. I, for one, can't think of any reason Apple would change the default setting like that, either.

Thanks. May I ask you what year / week your touch is? (It is the 3rd, 4th and 5th digits of your serial number - 748 means 2007, week 48).

I got a week 47 and it was 1 minute and I guess its always be 1 in minute. The human brain has a strange habit to confuse things like that, I don't know why. I guess he just instantly switched it to never and just forgot, I experience stuff like that all the time.

and why does it really matter anyway?
