Nearly every time that I use Safari, about two minutes into its use it will automatically return to the home screen without pressing the sleep or home button. Any explanations?

Safari has some bugs, also it might be something with the sites you are going to. you also might clear the cache.

Yeah. There are some bugs that cause Safari to crash sometimes.
Resource-heavy webpages (even iLounge, sometimes) will crash the browser and/or stop the music playing. If it's a specific group of web pages you're visting, that's likely the problem. Else, try restoring it and make sure you're using 1.1.2. If that still doesn't work Jailbreaking has been said to
