I keep getting unknown error. Please help!

Every time I start itunes I get this error.

"iTunes could not connect to the iPhone "" because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000001)"

I just got an iTouch for Christmas and for some reason I cannot get it to work on my computer. I've tried my friends nano on my computer, and it worked just fine. The nano didn't have any errors, and it was very simple to get started. Then I tried hooking the Itouch to friends computer, and it worked just fine. I didn't have any hassle getting it to work. I thought that it may have been defective, but it doesn't seem to be have problems on other computers. It is just on mine.

I tried doing the run dianostics and did the ipod connectivity test. Everything was green except the "Ipod found." Did the help button that was next to it and tried everything it said. The topic was "iPod shows up in Windows but not in iTunes."

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hey, I had the same thing happen to me over and over and nothing seemed to work. Eventually I called apple and they said the problem was in the ipod mobile service. She advised searching for a folder called 'Apple mobile device support'. Open that folder up and there should be a programme called AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi. Right click on it and select repair. I then plugged my ipod back in and it connected fine. Hopefully it will work for you.

I have had the same problem with the error 0xE8000001 when I try to sync with iTunes, I am running an iMac with os 10.4.11 software, iTouch iPod, and 7.5 iTunes, I have reloaded iTunes and had no luck with the sync. However this the second time this worked for me, I let the iTouch charge all night then tried to sync in the morning and had no problem. I'm just sharing that info, it is hardly a fix but it has worked!!
