I just got my iPod touch and I don't know whether this is normal or not.
When I view movies with dark scenes, or pictures with dark areas, the dark area looks like a negative. The best way to describe this effect is when you look at an LCD from above or below at an angle, you know how the colors almost become negatives? This is how it looks to me, even when staring at it dead on. Does anyone else have this with their iPod Touch or iPhone? I asked around and have found about three other people who have this issue with their iPhone and one with the iPod Touch. Is my unit defective, or all blacks really displayed this poorly? |

Yeah I just read a post over at macrumors, reporting the exact same thing, with some pics too.

however, the touch seems to have an upperhand when it comes to saturation.
At full brightness the iPod touch looks a tad better, with deeper, darker color saturation. This is odd, because Apple claims they sport the same 480 by 320 resolution screen with 163 pixels per inch. Clearly, there is something slightly different, but it detracts very little from the iPhone to say that the new iPod touch looks a little better in the color department. |

Since it's now being reported everywhere, all of them are doing it.

I'm not sure that this is a universal problem. Some posters on the apple message board report that they have better screens. My ipod has this problem, however.
I bought mine at the SoHo NYC store. Can everyone report where they got theirs if they have the issue? Or where they got it if they don't. |
