I recently bought ipod touch. If i had known how much trouble, how complicated, it is to get it set up and with all the extra things it needs, like itunes and wifi, and how everything is inter-dependent with downloads from the internet, I wouldn't have bought it. And what is with the battery? It lasts 30 mins!

I know what you mean. My iPods battery doesn't last very long. I mean that goes against the purpose of having your music with you everywhere when it keeps draining so fast. Something that helped me is quitting running apps so they don't make it drain faster.
You also need to protect it from damage. Those screens break so easily. The best thing I have found is xoskins. You should check out their video on youtube how much it can withstand.

What else are you going to use it for other than the internet which requires WiFi or Music/Video which require iTunes?

If your battery only lasts 30 minutes you have a bad battery. My first gen touch's battery will still last over 2 hours on video and many hours on audio only. If you are streaming video, over Wifi, your battery will drain considerably faster.

Wake up to the controlled limitations.

My point is, not having one to start with, I bought one, and then i found these peculiar proprietry limitations forcing me to use and be limited to getting many proprietry extras, none of which I previously had. That is not to say I didn't have a use for it, nor anticipated having a use for for what it provides. I am saying the uses are controlled and manipulated more than one might expect for what is really merely a technological device, which I bought. They didn't give it to me. So what am I paying for, the added proprietry monopoly? This is a distortion, a perversion, of technology, forcing me, and making me pay, to adhere to the proprietors extras. Is this the future of technology?

WTH are you talking about? There are absolutely no "forced limitations", except to use iTunes (free) if you want to sync with your computer. You can play almost any modern music files except FLAC (which you can convert for free) or OGG (which you can convert for free). You can play MP4 video or convert any other video for free. You're not forced to buy any songs from iTunes. You can rip your entire CD collection (for free) or even download to your heart's content from BT (for free).

Now, if you're saying that requiring you to convert OGG or FLAC or video files, or to use iTunes are "forced limitations" then I guess you've never used the competition's devices either, as they all have some media type or another that they can't play, and they all recommend that you use their own software for syncing and backing up.

The newest iPod Touch has the same processor as the iPhone 4S. The processor in the iPhone 5 is up to twice as fast. But the 4s is no slouch.

iPod Touch Question

When I connect my iPod to my computer my songs show up on iTunes, but then asks to restore. After it has restored I still cannot add songs to the iPod ..I disconnect and re-connect the iPod and it asks me to restore the iPod again.

Any thoughts? I just want to add more songs to my iPod.
