Unhappy flickering orange light !

Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. Hello folks !
I purchased my new shuffle iPod and I plugged it to my USB1.1 port but I cannot do any thing with it , the orange light keeps flickering all the time while the iPod is plugged.
I am using ephpod , and when I unplug it to listen t o the music the iPod green and the orange lights flicker continually and it does not play songs , is my iPod defective ?
Please advise !

You should have got a little card with your Shuffle explaining what all the lights mean.
Flashing orange means "do not disconnect". I think probably the best way to fix it is to open iTunes and it should stop. You didn't mention having installed iTunes, so if you haven't already you're going to want to install it from the CD that came with it.
Alternate green and orange lights means there's an error, probably because there's no songs on it. Don't worry, your iPod isn't defective. Just install iTunes from the CD that came with it, and everything should be fine.

First thing did you install the drivers for the shuffle? They came on the cd and you can get the latest version off of apple.com. Second did you install itunes and use that? Make sure it is the latest version. Third, are you usb port working correctly,$20 will get you a cheap usb2 card.

Downloaded the lastest ipod software and the latest version of itunes and take notes of any error messages you may get. Reseach the error message on google to find out what is going on.

I have a shuffle and had a simuliar problem,I downloaded the latest ipod softwareand that fixed it.
