Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. When I play songs on my iPod shuffle (512 Mb), then connect and sync, the Last Played date does not update in iTunes. The play count, however, is updating correctly. My trusty old hard disk iPod doesn't have this problem. I'm running iTunes 4.7.1 on an iBook. Anybody else know anything about this?
Thanks, Scott |

The shuffle may not have an internal clock so therefore it won't know WHEN the song was last played, just that it WAS played.

Thanks. After further research, it turns out that's exactly why. Apparently Apple thought about updating the Last Played time to the current time upon sync, but decided not to do that. (I think they should have, though, for less breakage to scripts and smart playlists). Thanks, Scott |

There is a discussion in the Apple forums about this issue as well. Might be worth checking out if you still want to update your "recently played" music:
