Question "Old" dog trying to learn ipod. Please help.

I bought a ipod shuffle today. I have itunes loaded and have for several years as my grandkids like it. I buy them gift cards for itunes and then they put the songs on their device.
I have stored their songs in a folder off of itunes as I had to have my pc cleaned/reformatted.
Now when I play the songs I am hearing words over the music. It sounds like A B S media download - but I may be incorrect. I hear this over songs that say MP3 formated sound.
The ones that say MPEG-4 Audio they play correctly.

What am I doing wrong? The only ones that will play without the words over top of the music/lyrics are the ones still in my itunes library. All the ones on my hard drive are talking over the music every few seconds non stop?????

I don't know anything about all this stuff & the grandkids are not coming back to visit until Thanksgiving, so they can't help me.

Please explain the steps to me like I am a 5 yr old
