Shuffle 1G - Constant updating, half-songs and error messages.

Hi,

I didn't want to give a vague title but I have several problems with my new iPod shuffle. I have owned several iPods in the past but I have never had this many problems.

Constant Updating: When the iPod is plugged into my computer it says in the iTunes window "Updating iPod. Do not disconnect". Then after a short while it says "iPod update is complete. OK to disconnect". The problem is that whenever I click on a song on my shuffle it repeats the updating process which makes iTunes run very slow because it is pausing all the time whilst updating. I tried Edit > Preferences and unchecked "look for updates automatically" but that didn't change anything.

Half-Songs: I only had this problem before when copying songs from CDs but now it is from the computer to the shuffle. A small amount of the songs on my shuffle cut out half way through which, as you can imagine, is frustrating when in the middle of a song

Error messages: This problem doesn't happen too often. When I plug in the shuffle it comes up with all sorts of errors about not being able to find the folder and restoring the iPod. It seemed to fix when I moved the shuffle from a USB port to a USB 2.0 port. Is that the reason?

Anyway, hope you're not put off by the sheer amount of writing in this post! I hope you can help.

Thanks,
Ludders
