Dead shuffle, just flashes and i/o error

Hey guys, i turned my shuffle off the other day for a while and then when i went to turn it back on the lights started flashing (green/amber) on the front and back. I knew something was up and when I plug it into my pc, it gets recognized as a drive but when i try to format it or restore it, it just freezes explorer for a while.

Also it doesn't show up as an ipod in itunes. Any idea how i can fix it or will i need to warranty it? If it matter's its a 1gig and i use win2k with the latest service packs and just updated the ipod with the latest october '05 patch.

I had trouble when I used the updater also. It toasted my shuffle and apple replaced it under warranty. I then tried to delete itunes and ipod software and did a clean install. This did not work and I found an old copy of itunes and ipod software to get it to work. Shuffle still locks up sometimes and I have to reset it and reload music onto it. Bummer.
