iPod Shuffle full?

Please help, my frustration at my iPod is driving me insane.

I bought my iPod in August and have had about 500mb worth of songs playing on it. The other week I removed these songs, and replaced them a different 500mb worth of songs. I now want to remove these songs again and did so, but when I went to put new songs on it said I had used 942.6mb and had only 48.1mb free, yet my iPod has nothing on it, proved both by showing nothing in iTunes and not playing anything when played manually.

What do I do so I can put my 1Gb worth of songs on rather than 18 which is all it allows me to do at the moment? I have no solution, any help is appreciated!

use the updater to restore and get back to us. But not the latest one... either use the one you have on the computer or try to get one from september 6th or before

I ran the updater (which is called iPod Updater 2005-02-22) and got a message saying 'iPod service error', and then it didn't run at all.

That updater probably doesn't support the Shuffle. The most recent is 2005-11-something I think.

Other than that, the problem could be that you somehow moved the songs to the trash instead of deleting them. Try plugging the Shuffle in and emptying the trash.

Na its all good, I re-installed the updater which came with CD and it worked perfectly. Thanks for all your help and suggestions though!
