does your lanyard (which is part of the usb cap) hold on to the shuffle securely? like a small tug or so would detach it easily?

yes, the lanyard holds the shuffle very securely. there are little holds in the USB connector, that allow the shuffle to snap into the lanyard for a secure lock. it worked very well for me. i just don't like all the wires and stuff in flying around, but that's an opinion.

do ya think it would wear out with all times where you will take it off and snap it on for charging, uploading etc?

The cord on mine broke (at the joint) kind of easily which might be a safety feature if you get it caught on something. I tied a knot in it and soldiered on. I dont think the USB cap will fall off. The shuffle is too smooth to get caught on anything.

no, it won't wear out. that won't happen unless something happens to the shuffle's USB connector itself. you're good.

everything has a limited useable life. the connector is made a spring and a bearing (one for either side). the life would be limited by the life of the springs. im willing to bet it will last MUCH longer than the shuffle itself.
