Don't use eBay as a judgement for the value of an iPod or anything for that matter. There are two reasons why things sell on eBay for higher than their actual values:
1. People are idiots.
2. Sellers often have multiple buyer accounts. They will go in, bid on their own products to increase the final bid price, and hope that idiots put in a few bids after theirs (which happens a lot). It's no big deal if the seller buys their own product as their money just flows from one account to another.

You will find all sorts of stuff being auctioned off at prices that are way too high. I've come across a fifth generation 30GB iPod for $150. It was scratched, the battery wasn't operating anywhere near full capacity, and the bid had gone up to that absurd price. That iPod is worth about $45 max and about $30 in the condition they had it in.
