Moving loaded music from a nano onto a new playlist on itunes

I was loaned a nano with music on it. I want to load it with my own music but would like to keep the original music on a playlist to give back to the owner. How do I create a new playlist on i tunes and move all the titles currently on the nano onto that new itunes playlilst? I already have all the music in my library but not in a playlist

Select Music, Click File->Playlist from Selection

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....

It should be on your computer. How did you get it to the iPod in the first place?
The music sync is one way - computer to iPod. The exception is iTunes purchases. Without syncing: File>Transfer Purchases
The iPod touch is not a storage device. It is designed to mirror the elected content from your computer.
