I've noted that the the suffle feature doesn't work well on large playlists (over 100 songs), it seems to play the same songs in the same order (not in the same order that they are in the playlist anyway). And it even play songs it has already played before playing all the remaining songs in the playlist.
Any advise on how to solve this? My 6th gen ipod nano has version 1.2PC and the model is PC699 (I don't know if that helps) Thanks, Alex. |

First, the shuffle algorithm is not as random as you'd think, it seems to gravitate towards higher-played and higher-rated songs. But it certainly isn't so bad as to play the same songs in the same order. If that's what you're seeing, I suspect that it is the playlist order that is shuffled and you're playing it with shuffle turned off. Either that or you need to reset or restore your Nano since that is definitely not normal.
Second, if you exit a playlist and start playing something else, then come back to the playlist, you will hear songs that you heard on the first go-round because the playback order is reset once you leave a playlist. If you want to avoid this, don't exit the playlist, or create a smart playlist that forces songs out of the playlist based on playback history. For example, if you use the criteria "Last Played is not in the last 7 Days" then songs will drop out of the playlist and only be re-eligible to re-enter it a week later. But if you're not exiting the playlist and hearing repeats of some songs, then check to make sure you don't have more than one copy of the song in the playlist (it is possible to have duplicates within a playlist, but one copy of the song in your library). Or, as above maybe you need to reset or restore your Nano. |
