6th gen keeps stopping!

Hi there
I have an ipod nano 6th gen which plays no problem on an ipod dock, but when the earphones are in it plays for 30 seconds or so and then stops. This also happens if it is connected to a power source throught the earphone socket. I have tried to adjust the settings but cant work out why it is doing this. does anyone out there know what the solution is? Thanks
Dave

I can't imagine any reason except the headphones are not plugged in all the way.

You could also restore the iPod to factory state and see if that resolves the problem.

Thanks for the reply. How do you restore the ipod to factory state?

Plug the iPod into the computer then select it in iTunes. Click the Restore button in the Summary tab of its sync settings.

The headphone jack can be a little stiff, make sure it is fully seated with none of the metal parts visible.
