I got this from Singapore. People say there are a lot of fake i products there. It looks like an nano 4th gen.it says apple )small apple logo ) at the bottom of the screen. and on/off written on the top left switch (which is hold button on nano 2nd gen ipods) . no I can't turn it on either. it is 32GB . I really need to know if this is fake or not

First off, you can identify the models using this page: Identifying iPod models
Second, the 4th gen nano did not come in a 32 GB model. I think you have a fake based on the description of the on/off switch which should be a hold switch, an apple logo near the screen, etc.

You can also post a few pictures if you want (or make some type of spaced links to pictures using an image host such as Imageshack.us, no image hosts with adult ads) if you want further verification that your iPod is a fake model. Based on your post, that sounds like it was your intention. New users cannot post links or photos but you can make links or even PM me with the links and I could add them to this thread.

you mean, on the original ipod, it doesn't say on/off near the top left switch?

Kornchile, it is ok. I am now pretty sure that this is the fake model. even its menu buttons get stuck sometimes. that should never happen in an original ipod

No iPods have ever had an on/off switch and that dates back to the release of the original iPod in 2001. iPods have always entered a sleep mode but can be fully shut down using a special procedure which varies based on the iPod model. Either way, if your iPod has an on/off switch, it is fake. The 4G iPod nano (like every other iPod nano except for the 6G and 7G models) also has a scroll wheel and it doesn't use buttons to navigate the menu, only for the selection of items in the user interface and to go back. Scrolling up and down is done through the non-moving scroll wheel.

There are a lot of fake stuff in the Asian counties! And they are quite cheaper, usually has all of the features of an iPhone, at-least the icons are there, some of them works, others don't, there is very little cache often, thus you wont be able to fo further than Google homepage, and so on! So inshort, these are sold in the name of replicas and they work quite well!
