this is my father's iPod nano and we have 2 separate computers.
here's what ive done so far. i tried plugging his ipod into my computer. it didnt show up. my own ipod did show up so it wasnt a physical connection problem. i took the ipod to the apple store where it connected just fine. i also realized i should've tried connecting it to my dad's computer instead of mine. oh well. anyway so they erased the ipod in case that was the reason the connection wasnt showing. tried plugging it into dad's computer right now. not connecting. it does at least say do not disconnect on the ipod, which it wasnt before the apple store when i was plugging it into my computer (it was indeed getting recharged, but the dont d/c never came). but its not showing up in itunes. help! thanks dan |

There are a few things you can try:
1. Open iTunes and plug the iPod into a different USB port. 2. Restart the computer with the iPod plugged in. 3. Try a different USB cable. 4. Completely uninstall and reinstall iTunes along with EVERY other Apple program. This will have no affect on your/his iTunes library. Everything will still be 100% intact after iTunes (and everything else) is removed and installed. 5. Make sure Windows is up to date and that you are running the appropriate version of iTunes. Keep in mind that there are two versions: 32-bit and 64-bit. You should install the 64-bit edition only the computer is running a 64-bit release of Windows Vista or Windows 7. Everything else, including the 64-bit version of Windows XP, should be running the 32-bit version of iTunes.
