Help with Nano 5th Gen RCA cable issues

Pulling my hair out with an iPod/car stereo issue and found this site, hoping someone here can help.

I have a 5th Gen iPod, and am trying to hook it up to my factory head unit in my truck with an iPod to RCA cable, made by DNF (model ipr2). I would post a link but forum rules don't let a newb post links... It's the one that has the large, flat connector that plugs into the iPod.

I plug it in as others have with the same model car and stereo as mine, and I get nothing. No sound, no control, nothing.

Unfortunately, the cable says it's only compatible with the 4th Gen iPod, and no note about the 5th Gen.

Is there a difference between the 4th and 5th Gen iPods that would render the cable useless???

Thanks

-T

Yes there is a difference. The power pin moved, well actually one of the two power pins is not used anymore.

You'll have to get a 5th gen cable. Or use the $10 headphone (mini) to RCA cable instead. You'll get sound, it is compatible with any iPod and it is cheap.

Have you backed up your iTunes Library this week? If not, you are risking losing your music and playlists....

Hi,

Well, for starters, the iPod Nano now has a video camera. On the back of the Nano there's an eensy-teensy fixed-lens camera that runs flush with the body.

Maybe I'm just filthy, but I have to think Apple would have done better to move the lens closer to the top and out of harm's ways.
