Hello. For starters I am a mom so a mom friendly explanation please. My son is dyslexic and was given a ipod nano to use for downloading audio books that he receives free online. The problem is that the books are DRM protected is there anyway to download these onto the ipod or am I wasting my time?

"Free" is rarely accompanied by DRM. Are you sure this is a DRM situation? (As opposed to an incompatible format.) Or perhaps these are normally paid-for audiobooks for which you've received gift certificates? It would help if you'd specify exactly where the audiobooks come from. Also, what happens when you try to add them to iTunes? Do you get any error messages? Does the site from which you get the audiobooks list the devices with which they are compatible? When you look at the audiobook files, what file extension appears at the end of the file name -- .aa, .mp3, .m4a, .zip, etc.?
If the nano and audiobook access came from an agency (school, church, etc.) ask them how to make it all work. If this was a gift from a friend or relative, they may wind up having to return the nano (or the audiobooks) and buy a reader device that's suited to the books (or vice-versa). Hard to know without more details on the audiobooks. |
