Restore Ipod Nano (first gen) without itunes

Hi, so I formatted my ipod nano first gen 2gb through windows and now I get the restore ipod using itunes screen. My computer cannot run itunes because the software is too bloated and it doesn't have enough disk space and memory to run the program. Is there any type of standalone resotre program I can use, whether from apple or a third party? or is there a less bloated version of itunes i can use? I don't know I'm trying to get this fixed tonight because I really need my ipod for tomorrow (3-5 hour bus ride )

You need iTunes, full stop.

Given that you can run iTunes on a 10+ y.o. computer with 128mb of RAM, I am unsympathetic to your claims you can't handle installing iTunes long enough to restore your iPod.

iTunes should download the right FW version for you automatically when restoring your iPod if it can't find it on your local computer.
