Question absolute beginner

I have just bought an ipod nano 8gb 3rd gen from e-bay. It is the first time I have ever used an ipod and I must admit I'm not very technologically minded so if this is an idiotic question I do apologise.

The ipod has quite a lot of music on it already, most of it I will be very happy to keep. Some of it I would like to get rid of but if that's not possible that's ok, only about 8 albums. Waht I am now trying to do is to add music from my computer but when I attempt to do this a message comes up asking if I want to erase and sync my library on insyead or transfer purchases which I have tried and nothing happens. It also tells me that this ipod is regeistered to another library (the guy I bought it off) How do I add my music to the ipod without losing the stuff that is already on there? I've tried copy and paste and send to from my downloads to the ipod but this is not working either.

Would appreciate some help please, but it will have to be in fairly easy to understand language as I am not at all technical.

Cheers
Tess

Since you say you are not technically minded, then it would be best if you just erased what was on that iPod and add your own. There is a procedure, but it is somewhat complicated. Not something an absolute beginner should be doing. Especially if you already have a library.

Forget the existing music because you'll be messing with 2 libraries and all sorts of issues as a beginner.

Download & install SharePod (it's free) and connect the iPod to your computer. This software will allow you to remove the music that's on the iPod back to your computer. Once there you can add it to iTunes. It's not that hard to do. You just need to take the time to learn how to use the iPod since you have one.

Use the link in the above post and read the article. It will help.
