3rd gen Nano & DLO Homedock Deluxe

Hi, I just purchased a 3rd gen ipod nano and I also wanted to purchase the DLO Homedock Deluxe but it says its is not compatible with the 3rd gen ipods. Taken from the DLO website

Q: Does the HomeDock Deluxe work with 3rd Gen iPods?
A: No it does not. The HomeDock Deluxe is compatible with all Click Wheel iPods from the 4th Gen iPods and the iPod mini to the 5th Gen iPod with Video and the newest iPod nanos.

This got me confused because i thought the 3rd gen ipod nano is a click wheel ipod. So my question is will it work?

No, it won't.

I might be stating this wrong, so someone please correct me if so. But Apple included a new authentication chip in the new iPods that effectively kills video output from all existing third-party docks such as the one you described. I think in order to get video out, you need an official iPod dock and an official Apple A/V cable. There might be one or two third-party products that will work now. But I'm not sure.

FYI, they also killed the compatability with third-party alarm clocks, such as the iHome or Luna. So the alarm function on these units does not work.

What about the new DLO Homedock Deluxe 009-9900 that's said to work with the 3rd Gen? Anyone know? Maybe i'll give DLO a call.

Compatability with 3rd gen Nano

notoriouz:

if you haven't called dlo yourself yet, the answer from them is all new ipods (classics and 3rd gen nanos) are audio and video compatible with dlo homedock model# 009-9900. i put up a post on 11/29 after speaking with dlo about my classic. i realized i never mentioned the new nanos in my phone inquiry, so i sent off an email and was assured newer nanos are compatible with model# 009-9900.

i donít want to step on gregmac1213ís toes, but i believe dlo purchased the rights to use the so called Ďchipí in the new model# 009-9900. another thing i have to note is that you are still unable to browse photos from the tv menu. now since the white dlo screen never changes while your dock is powered on, i donít know how you will find photos on the ipod menu? iíve been assured by dlo that the white logo screen will not cause burn in on your new ipod screen?

joker0153:

i didn't understand your post, what's an old ipod classic? the last i spoke with dlo they are not yet selling the homedock model# 009-9900 on their website. it's only available at best buy at this time.

also not that it's too much solace for notoriouz, but your local best buy should match their online price of $149.99

Can anyone confirm this? Its described as DLO Homedock Deluxe II Part #009-9800 and on the compatibility chart is shows the 3rd gen ipod nano is compatible. Heres the link:

DLO Homedock models 009-9800 vs 009-9900

notoriouz:

that ebay link is a lie. i'm the owner of a 009-9800 i also have the 80gb classic. they are not completely compatible, there's no album art, photos or video and the same will be true for your 3rd gen nano.

call dlo toll free at 866-800-4763 (9-5, Mon-Fri) or go to bestbuy.com and do a keyword search for (dlo homedock). the first one that comes up is the 009-9900 and has one customer review from a classic user, the third listed is the 009-9800 with two customer reviews although they don't mention their ipods. i paid $124 for this model in april for my 2nd gen nano at everythingipod.com, if you can find one at a best buy they're just $89 now. believe me as the owner of a 009-9800 this model is not for you.
