Hello all,
Just an easy question...(or two). I just sold my 1st gen nano to someone, and ordered a new 3rd gen nano. It should be here any day. With my 1st gen, I usually charged it with an apple ac adapter with a firewire connection to the plug on the bottom of my nano. It worked great. I was told you cannot sync with that cord, but you can still charge with it. My question....it worked great with the 1st gen nano...will it still work on the new one? Are the plugs, (or the opening) on the new nano the same? Can I use that firewire/a/c adapter with the new one, or do I need to buy a new usb a/c adapter for this new nano? I would think it should still work....I think they are the same. 2nd question.....is there anything I should do with my itunes, etc, before I plug in my new nano? How does itunes know I no longer have that "old" nano? How do I de-authorize the old nano? Thank you in advance for any help given. Frank D.

The cable that comes with it is USB. The chargers they sell now uses the USB cable to charge. You do nothing to the computer in prep for the Namo 3rrG. It does not care about the old Ipod.

Thank you Bulldog.
I'm hoping that I can also charge this new nano with the a/c charger using the firewire to ipod connector, so I do not always need to have my laptop around to charge it. I could either; 1) Use the firewire/A/C charger to charge it, like I did my 1st gen nano. or 2) Buy a usb A/C charger and use the cable it comes with. thanks....Frank D.

I haven't heard that Firewire charging has been disabled, but it's always a possibility.
It can't hurt to try it.

Well, I just got my new nano today......I can charge it with the same a/c adapter with a firewire cord.....so I do not need to buy a new usb a/c adapter.
So far, all is working well. A bit disappointed that it did not come with any foam covers for the earpods.....oh well. i had an extra set lying around. Frank D.
