can't sync songs into ipod

i have a 2GB nano and i can't seem to sync certain songs from my itunes. it says 'sync complete' but when i on my ipod, the songs aren't there. did i do something wrong?

Make sure your song's tags are properly filled out including the Name, Artist, Album and Genre. In certain conditions songs will not show up properly on the iPod if the Album field is missing.

yes, i've double checked and triple checked but it still doesn't work. now from having over 300 songs in my ipod, it's now down to only 100.

Are these songs you've imported yourself, or were they purchased from the iTunes Store?

If they are purchased songs, you need to ensure that your computer is "authorized" to play them before they will transfer to your iPod. You can authorize your computer by choosing the Store, Authorize Computer option, or simply by playing one of the purchased tracks. iTunes will prompt you for your iTunes Store userid and password, and then download the necessary authorization keys to allow your computer to play those tracks and transfer them to your iPod.

The other possibility is that these are not selected for synchronization in some other way. Check your iPod sync settings in iTunes by selecting your iPod (while it's connected) in the left-hand source list, and then checking the settings on the "Summary" and "Music" tabs.

Specifically, you want to check the following two settings:

1. The "Only sync checked items" setting is OFF on the "Summary" tab. If this setting is ON, then any tracks that do NOT have a check mark beside them in iTunes will be excluded from your iPod.
2. Your "Music" tab has "All songs and playlists" selected for synchronization, rather than just selected playlists. If you're only syncing selected playlists, then only tracks listed in those specific playlists will be transferred to your iPod (this is normally used if you have a larger library in iTunes than will fit on your iPod).

these songs aren't from itunes store. however, about the settings, that is where i'm a bit lost because the "only sync checked items" IS on. and yet, not all of the checked songs are in my ipod.

Well, try turning OFF the "Only Sync Checked Items" setting and see if that changes anything.
