Hello, I'm looking for a hard metal case for my boyfriend. Right now I can't decide between the Core Case or the Matias Armour.
I like that the core case doesn't have the hinge on the side. However, matias comes with a lanyard and the new core cases do not. Can you give me some input? Any help will be appreciated. Docking is not an issue. Thanks! |

The lanyard is effectively just a piece of string.
Not really a feature IMO. I have the Core case and there is a mounting point for a lanyard if need be, they just don't come with one is all. Personally, I chose the Core case for similar reasons to what you've cited already - no hinge. I wasn't disappointed. |

Thanks step666, I wasn't aware that there was a lanyard mounting point!

I have just bought a red core case for my black 8gb nano and it is fantastic. Admittedly there is no lanyard but I bought a cheaper metal case and it didn't lock together very well, in that when I used to remove my headphones the inner bit would pull out slightly. Also the click wheel hole didn't sit perfectly around the click wheel but this one does. I also like the protector that fits into the dock connector. It will stop dust getting in.
I was also a bit disappointed when Apple released the red nano in 8gb but now I have the red core case with the black click wheel, which I prefer to the white click wheel on the red nano. This is my fourth case and I know now that I have found the best one. I would recommend it to you. |

how well does the core case preserve the colour of the ipod?
Does it look the same as the original or a bit off? |

I assume this isn't addressed to me, what with black being black...
One thing I will say, the texture is different. It's nothing major, not the end of the world just that the case is a subtely different texture to the iPod itself. |

I really really like the Core Case and considering buying one.
However - a couple weeks ago I researched the original Nano case w/ belt clip and a place for a lanyard. Now - I see there is a 2nd gen Core case that doesn't have a belt clip or a lanyard. I need a belt clip and a lanyard (wrist strap) for various reasons. Would you guys consider the 'original core case' AS good of quality and protection as the 2nd gen? I'm just disappointed I can't get the original one in my blue color ....(wimper..wimper) |
