Highpitch noise - Getting replacement.

For all those who have an new 2G nano which makes a highpitched noise even when LCD light is off they can probably get it replaced.

Read: http://discussions.apple.com/thread....46480&tstart=0

I would like to hear from anyone who has the 8GB 2gen nano that their nano doesn't make that high pitched noise (You should hear it VERY CLEARY) when put up to your ear.

It's just cos i fear my replacement will have exact some problem.

Thanks.

I purchased a 8GB from the apple store, came home and had the same problem, returned it, the apple genuis said it was defective, gave me another, before I left I opened it up to check it, and it was making the same buzzing, high pitch whine, showed the genuis again, we then checked all the new G2 nano's on displays and all of them had some type of noise coming from them, just to let you know, my G1 Nano never made this type of noise. So now I'm trying to figure out if I should by 80 GB 5.5 or wait to see if they fix this problem.

Hmm, could more people comfirm they have this problem with their new 2nd gen nanos?

If so there is no point in me getting a replacement..

I did'nt even notice this until i put the nano up to my ear and I can hear a faint whining noise - however I am not concerned and until it is easier (if it ever is) to notice I wont be sending it back as I have purchased the Applecare plan so have peace of mind for 2 years

Really is it noticeable when your playing music with earphones in ?

if I have it in my hand and i'm looking at it without music in my eyes I can "clearly" hear it.

Quite annoying having paid top notch dollar for it to then have such a problem.

I made a post about this yesterday, and now that it has been identified as a problem and not something normal, I will definitely return it until the problem has been corrected. Gives me a headache when its charging on the other side of my desk.

It sounds like its preety loud....strange that its coming from a small screen. I'd recommend you guys to submit feedback to apple through their site. It can only help...

How long does it usually take for apple to fix all the litttle problems in the first batch of nanos? I hate waiting

I would take it back - buggered if I want to pay top dollar for shoddy workmanship. I wonder if it is from the new processor chip they are using?

I have a nano, and it makes the noise, it's just showing that the ipod is working, i have a different flash player, and it makes the same noise, so you shouldn't have anything to worry about. It's just the new chips they're using, your nano isn't broken.

I had a 8GB nano that made some faint noise but didn't bother me at all - I had to really listen for it up close (only after reading the forums). That nano had a different problem (sometimes had a white screen when turning on), and I returned it for that reason.

The replacement nano functions perfectly. Still has a FAINT noise just like before, but it is nowhere near being a problem.

The reports seem to vary greatly. I've read messages about people being able to hear a noise only if they hold the iPod up to their ears and simply wondering if that is a problem. Other messages describe a noise that is extremely irritating where I get the impression that it is heard accross the room, comparable to a CRT monitor whine.

Maybe it is possible that most make the noise but the frequency is high enough where some of us can't hear it at all, others hear a little of it, and others hear enough of it to be unbearable. Maybe a unit I think produces only a faint noise can be heard by someone with more sensitive hearing across the room?

I have very sensitive ears and my 8GB nano has no high pitched noises. Though it used to have the "popping" click wheel until I manipulated it.
