iPod Inactivity and Power Loss

Ok, I am still getting used to my Nano and haven't used it all that much since I bought it. I was out of town for a while, and still use my Shuffle quite a bit.

I charged my Nano up a while ago and it still have (should of had) a bit of power left. I was away for a while (a week) and didn't touch it in about 10 days or so, and when I did, it had no power. Nothing.

Is this normal? Shouldn't it retain its power during the inactivity??

Yeah power slowly drains off even though when your iPod is turned off as mentioned in Apple's website....that's just simply how lithium-ion batteries used in iPods work.

Also try checking whether you have any alarms set in your nano.

Does anyone know if the Shuffle works the same way? Does the battery drain if it isn't in use?

doesn't the nano technically stay "on", even tho it has been turned "off"??

I mean, it never is totally powered competely off, unless the battery is totally drained, because it continually uses a small current to maintain internal clocks & settings, such as if a song is paused in the middle of playback prior to turning the nano off. By doing this, the nano can resume the track where you left off when you turn it back on.

By using this amount of power, there is a slight, slow syphon of power, until after a while the nano is drained. At least, that's what I thought - is there any truth to this???
