I think that's the smartest thing I've heard on this forum.

I don't agree with renting music, but if I was, then I'd make copies too. Why? Because I can, it's to my benifit, and no-body is loosing any money (I'll keep paying my subscription fee because it's getting me lots of cheap music). It just means if I need to save money for awhile, or fall out with the company, or any other eventuality then I keep the music.

I still prefer hard copies, so I only download singles and odd album tracks, so 79p a song is cheaper than £10 a month for me.

definitely bittorrent, which i use bitcomet! awesome program. But downloading music and software is assuming you own that product. There is nothing wrong about owning a CD and downloading that same CD to your computer.

there is something "legally" wrong with it, but in yours and my minds, not ethically.

How awesome would a "Digital Media Copyrights for Dummies" book be?!

the problem is that there really are no real hard precedents...it's still in development...

we probably won't know all the laws for another decade by the time we figure it out

While we are on the subject on illegal music download, what constitutes the legality of such acts?

For example, if I bought a cassette tape in the 80's, and now I want to have a copy of that tape in MP3 format so I still can enjoy it with the iPod. So, I committed a crime if I download the exact same album from the web in MP3 format, is that how it works? Even I already paid for it once.

yup, it's illegal

the law sees it as stealing...ethically it's a different story imo

"Stealing" is such an ugly word. I prefer to think of it as providing cost-free, third-party, off-site, archival backups of digital media files.

Thank you very much.

thank you i totaly agree but i lost you at providing J/K

anyway, like i said with the radio recording, if that is for promotional porposes, mabe there should be a web site that does the same, mabe it wouldnt be a great selection but it would be better than paying, ig i could dowload a song by "Somebody Somebudy" and i liked it then i would like to buy some from them, i mean, would you buy a song by "Somebuddy Somebuddy" from the music store?
