I ordered this case from Switcheasy.com a few weeks ago and finally today recieved it. I had no idea it shipped from China... but the shipping was free so I'm not complaining. To the review...
The most appealing part about this case is definitely the looks. It has smoothe lines, a tinted screen, and includes a red scroll wheel protector, but unfortunately it doesn't have much else going for it. When I first recieved the case I opened it up to find a fake styrofoam iPod Nano stuffed in it. I took it out of my Aluminum Core Case (and scratched it AGAIN in the process), and then preceded to put it into the Capsule and snapped the top on it. It is definitely a snug fit. Not only that... there's no way to access the hold button or the USB connector with the case on... which I was not happy about in the least. This case is certainly good looking over the iPod. With the backlight on you can make the screen out through the tinted window, and it's pretty cool. I noticed that the front of the case scratched very easily, but it's not easily viewable on the case. At the bottom of the case I noticed that there was a large gap between the headphone port on the case and the actual headphone port on the iPod Nano. To make a long story short this case will NOT work with your Sony EX-51 headphones... I was unhappy about this as well. It sticks out too much for the headphones to go fully into the port so you only get one headphone with sound, but I'm sure there's a way to fix this. Finally, it is very hard to pry to Nano out of the case once it's in there, but I don't really look at that as a shortcoming, just more work. I haven't tested out the protection of the case, but I'm sure it's just as durable as any other plastic case. Overall this is an excellent good looking case, but if you already have a Core Case or another case that you're fine with don't spend an extra 20$ just for this. The tinted screen is cool and the wheel cover is fine, but it's not worth shelling out the dough for. Pros: - Looks really good and has a tinted screen. - Includes a sweet scroll wheel cover. - Included lanyard (I didn't use it) Cons: - No access for the hold button or USB connector while in the case. - Seems to be designed around the Apple headphones or ones with a vertical port like the Apple headphones, so L shaped ports like the Sony EX-51 will not work correctly unless altered with it. That's about all I have. As you can see I'm not very good at writing reviews... so meh. P.S. Anyone have a solution for fixing scratches on the front of an iPod Nano? I posted in the problem forums but didn't recieve one reply so maybe I'll get one here. The damned Core Case scratches it every time because I manage to ding it with the edge or something... and I really hate having scratches all over it. Thanks in advance. |

Thanks for the insightful review.
I've found that iCleaner's maintenance polish works well for getting rid of hairline scratches on the Nano. Others seem to recommend Brasso, but I have not tried it myself.

Wow... I just e-mailed them about a return and told them why I was returning it. Not only did they give me a full refund right away, I get to keep the case! I like this case a lot... it just lacks a few things. Now I get to keep my money... and this case. Excellent stuff.
And yea I'll try to figure out a way to open the headphone port a bit more, it's pretty annoying. |

try this site.
switcheasy.com/Special_Buy.htm i got mine today and i'm fairly impressed. it took about 3 minutes with a round file to enlarge the hole to fit my headphone plug, no problem there. i really like th way it looks, the front "plate" is smoked and the surround for the other 5 sides is textured and opaque. i'll try to get some pix up. here's some pictures, sorry they're not that good.
this one is the new headphone hole. img216.imageshack.us/img216/1338/dsc024691cz.jpg this one is without the front on, you can see how ravagedsigzag said it's kinda hard to get out because the ipod sits flush in the case. i keep the headphones connected and use that for leverage, it's not real real tight, jsut kinda snug. img379.imageshack.us/img379/5835/dsc024702xy.jpg |
