I'm not into armbands, but it looks pretty nice. It would be great if they gave recommended measurements for arms so consumers won't purchase the wrong size.

it looks pretty good to me.

I went mountain biking on the weekend and ended up wearing the nano loose in the sleeve of my Helly Hanson themal top.
It is so light weight that it stayed put just under my wrist even on downhills

So I saw on the front page of iLounge that the armband was $5 off today. I decided to go for it and there is free shipping too! There are two sizes and two colors available. Small/Medium and Medium/Large....and Black/Gray and Gray/Orange.

I called the Apple Store, they picked up right away. I asked them what size to go with. I'm about average build. He said if your bicep is less than 12" go with the small. I measured my bicep and it is exactly 12" unflexed. I decided to go with both sizes and return the one that doesn't fit. Hopefully one we'll fit either too tight or too loose. By the way went with the Gray/Orange.

So I ordered both sizes and got the M/L in the mail today. I took it out of the package and it looked decent, though the fabric covering the body looked not transparent enough. I tried it on and was a pretty good fit and felt great. I slipped the nano in and it fit well with no sliding around. The fabric is not as transparent as I'd like, but the screen is still readable. When you plug earphones in the bottom, the bottom corner of fabric covering the body rides up a little bit, b/c there is a small hole for your nano to enter in the center and since the earphone plug is on the side, the hole moves to that side.

All in all, I would rate this product a B. The build quality seems great and its washable, but the body cover could have been clearer and making the hole on the side where the earphone plug is would have solved that issue.

P.S. I realize I should have taken a picture with the earphones plugged in, but I forgot to. If you are really interested in this armband and would like me to take a picture, let me know.

If you look in picture 4, you can see the hole at the bottom where the nano is to enter.

I got mine today... After actually seeing it and trying it out, I'm not sure it's worth $40... (annoyed that it had a fabric pull) The 'clear' fabric covering the nano is NOT water-proof or water-resistant-- I ran a quick test and put paper towel inside the pocket and water goes right through the fabric to the nano. The M-L fits me (male, medium build, 5'6") but is too big for my wife (medium build, 5'6"). Not sure how this would fit those with larger biceps than me.

Overall, I'd say this it would be a good product for $15. For $40, I'm feeling a little duped.

Veniceboy - Do you think you are going to hang on to it or go for something else?

The M/L fits me too and I paid $35 on Black Friday (still too much in my opinion).

Question

Hi jkads3,

Thanks for posting those great images. I have the Nike armband on order, but had a quick question I was hoping you could answer.

In your images, it appears you have a blue casing on your nano. Is that correct? Before ordering this armband, I phoned apple and the CSR who answered didn't know if the armband was compatible with a case. But I went ahead and got it anyways and just hoped that it would work with a case. It's going to be a gift for someone, so if it's not compatible with a case, I might go ahead and return it.

Thank you!

Hey shyguy -

My ipod has been painted by the people at www.colorwarepc.com, the blue is not a case. The armband might fit a case, what kind of case are you planning on using the armband with?

Hi jkads3,

Thanks for the reply. I never knew that ipods could be painted! That looks pretty cool.

I'm not actually too sure of the case, because the nano is going to be a gift for my sister. So I was going to leave it up to her to get a case if she wanted it. I would think she would get something like an iSkin though. That sort of case would make the nano quite a bit thicker, so I'm not overly optimistic as it seems like a pretty snug fit without a case.

Thank you.
