Angry ARRRGH!! Brasso ate my nano!

yeah so i followed the directions in that guy's brasso "tutorial" from the home page a few days ago and it really messed up the front of my nano. most of the scratches are gone, so in that effect i guess it worked, but the finish is king of just ....dull. i only did it around the screen and then stopped when i saw what it was doing, so it's actually kind of two-toned. it seems to work for everyone else, i don't know what happened. guess i'll need a opaque case now.

30gb iPod photo- has been sent to my aunt. She loves it, and is very careful with it, as I've heard. Hopefully I can get it back when the battery dies or the hard drive fails.

30gb iPod video- just got it as of 12/13/05 YAY!!!

yeah i was going to get a case anyway but i'm still a little bummed. hey i'll get over it, i'm still more than thrilled with this thing! my poor 3rd gen found a new home with my brother.... as for pix, they don't show up, sorry. imagine a black nano with a dull finish on the top half of the front side.

What kind of cloth did you use? I've used a ratty old T-shirt which worked really well, except for some actual deep gouges in my old 3rd Gen.

I would suggest getting a microfiber cloth like from an eyeglasses kit.

I experienced the same effect when I started to use brasso on my nano. Fortunately for me as well, I stopped as soon as I noticed the dulling effect.

I immediately purchased icleaner, and it seems to have cleared it up, plus removed a deep scratch on my screen. Unfortunately, the very act of using icleaner seems to produce very light scratches, which I guess is fine since I will be buying a case.

Still, iCleaner removed that deep scratch which was causing a rainbow effect on a part of my screen. Expensive product, but it did more good than harm as opposed to the Brasso.

yeah i was thinkling about trying something like the icleaner, but like you said, it's kinda pricey. if i get out this afternoon before work i want to pick up some of this
3Mô Plastic Polish
(sorry for the cut & paste)
its made by 3m for getting scratches out of headlights and hard plastic stuff on cars. a huge 8oz bottle is like $6 at auto stores. i think it's probably the same stuff as icleaner or icecream etc.

Try getting a polish of some sort. I bought some Meguiar's Clear Plastic Polish, seeing as the surface of the nano is clear plastic...

yeah all those polishes will create a two-tone finish, it depends on what light/angle you're looking at it to see it.

it is plastic afterall.
