OK, everybody like nano. but let's find downside.

nano seems to be popular too much. so I really love it. but someday you guys will realize that your nano will be broken or defect, whatever. so let's talk about what you don't like, downside on nano. so here I go first.

1. firewire cable doesn't work with it. it's just charging battery not synchrozing.

2. as you guys mentioned, screen scratch issue is so terrible. in addition, screen seems to be vulnerable to be broken. but it is needed to verify that this issue is exaggerated, true, or somebody got just bad nano.

3. nano accesories release date is ridiculous. for example, nano tube is 4-6 weeks, lanyard earbuds is 4-6 weeks, dock is 1-2 weeks, etc.

4. I'm not sure whether the sound quality is good or not comparing with previous ipods. but if the sound quality is bad as true, it could be deep problem.

5. I'm not Windows user. but any ipod seems to be problem with windows OS. I think that Apple should work for solving this one. it will be a part of service for users so that more windows users will switch to mac because ipod works so well. usually for mac platform, ipod doesn't barely have problem.

6. nano uses flash memory. it seems to be slow when you synchronize songs. I heard the news which Apple bought 46% NAND memory from Samsung. but NAND memory has two model (MLC, SLC) Apple uses MLC as main flash memory for nano. but MLC is cheaper, slower for wriring, reading than SLC. other 3rd party mp3 company uses SLC which is more expensive, faster. that's why Apple can supply such cheaper 4GB flash memory ipod nano. otherwise, there is no way to provide $199, $249 ipod. NO WAY!

OK. if you have opinion, just write what you think here. personally I research for ipod nano effect in the market.

For a Pro Lounger, this is a very superficial thread. U are basically nickpicking on items that are far from fatal. Release date ridiculous? What else is new? it happends to all new products in high demand. Slow write time? I dun see nobody complaining. Getting USB2.0 will break your bank? hardly. Try harder.

anybody blame for someone very easily. but if you were in certain situation, you can't say like that. I think that it is not advice from you. do you think that I don't know or figure it out what's happening for nano? you're wrong. mostly people in here are general users. I want to anaylize the view from general because I can talk more expert, professional stuff. but nobody understand here. so next time, if you ask me, think twice.

all what I asked seems to be everybody issue. but it's the most critical one you should know, and many people also experience now.

don't underestimate someone who you don't know because you have no idea.

Re: OK, everybody like nano. but let's find downside.

I understand and appreciate your concerns, but I do not share them with you. The following is my reply to your concerns. I am not trying to pick a fight or anything, so I hope it does not look that way. Just simply replying to your concerns based on my own experience with havng a Nano.

Never seen a firewire cable, don't use it, and honestly, don't care about it.

This is my only concern. However, I should point out that very, very few people have said that the Nano screen is vulnerable. Scratches is probably my number one concern with owning a Nano at the moment.

After coughing up this much money for the Nano itself already, the only accessory I expect to ever purchase is some sort of protection from scratches. There are many types of protection already available, some for pretty nice prices.

The quality sounds really good to me. Granted, I'm not an audiophile, but I am pretty sure that most people who own iPod Nano's aren't either.

I'm a Windows XP user, and have absolutely no problems with the Nano thus far.

First off, all those abbreviations scare me... lol. I don't use the synchronization feature, and do not plan to.

Nice post there MaStAViC. The ONLY concern that I have with the nano is scratching, but I am VERY careful with my electronics.

I've only seen a firewire cable in use once in my life. I probably wouldn't buy those cheap little tubes or the lanyard. I've heard that the quality is better than everything but the shuffle. I'm not afraid of using it with Windows. And it's flash memory! That's a good thing! How can you make it out to be a bad thing?

The only other thing I might have fears of would be the "screen cracking" issue, but apple seems to be willing to replace them.

It's like you just decided to pick apart the bad little things about the nano that don't really matter archurban. If you don't like these facts, why in the world did you get one?

Re: OK, everybody like nano. but let's find downside.

1) firewire is not an issue with me.
2) my screen is scratch free 2.5 weeks...or however long the Nano has been out.
3) agreed, but i'm more concerned with after-market accessories (cases).
4) i think you're the only person who thinks the sound quality "could be a deep problem".
5) i am a Win XP user, and have no problems.
6) i have no issues with the speed of the memory.

if you're doing this for your own research, why not get unbiased reviews?

yeah, every part of question is up to you. it's not biased at all. if you don't have any problem, it's fine. but I have seen tons of problems from Apple discussion forum including sound quality, too. for somebody, it's not good, right? so if many people have no problems, why Apple forum has filled with them? could you explain why? probably not.

er, if i can understand your question....

yeah, i can. different bit-rates, different headphones, different tastes, 1000s of Nano released, i doubt all will be perfect. after a quick search on the Apple forums, i see 6 or 7 people complaining about the sound quality.

that screen cracking "issue" has only been reported by one person. In all various ipod related forums, he is the only one to report this, so I'd say it is very much exaggerated. If you read the original thread, he kept trying to dodge the question of what he was doing when the screen cracked. I wouldn't put much into this "issue".

However, scratching is an issue, but that's always been the case with every iPods.

Do you work for apple? Theres WAY WAY more then 1. The apple forum has a ton of seperate ones alone along w/ dozens of pictures. Even this forum seems to have a new one every day. And on the scratching issue, its much worse thn previous ipods, notice how the ONLY people sticking up for apple in this are the people who have never even seen much less owned a nano.

Why does a ipodresq's nano lcd replacement service have to say this after a week of the nano being out. "We are experincing a temporary price increase on the nano LCD repair due to LCD availability and overwhelming demand."
