its just that i didnt want a case, because i like the sleakness of the ipod. and i didnt want to get all scratched when i put it in my pocket.

ok, so ive decided to wait until tomorrow to see how it looks. if it still looks bad, im going to return it and get a Marware Sports Grip
If you got dirt under it, it will be there forever. I used my wife's tweezers, but they must have had some mascara or something on the tips, so when I grabbed the IS with them, it transferred to the sticky side and now I have a small black spot on the side. It's not a big deal to me though. If I were you, I'd stick with my first instict and keep the IS because any case is going to ruin the "sleekness" of the nano.

I thought this site had a good description of the application process ... made me decide against buying one.

Why would that stop you? Yeah it's not the easiest thing to do, but not terribly difficult. Maybe took me 30-45 mins. Time well spent considering how great it is.

I thought it was better to have something with a type of cushion to it, in addition to a screen cover. I went with a simple DLO armband case at Best Buy - only I like to use a rubber waist pouch for when I run or workout (that used to hold a CD player). I think the 60GB video player is a bit too big when I run or weight train for my arm. Around my waist in the back it's just perfect!

All in all, which is the better option? Cut-out or no cut-out?

I think cut out as the non-cut out will trap some air around the clip wheel and you really don't need to protect the click wheel as the material it's made out of doesn't really scratch.

mtnagel,

Thanks for your opinion. However, I've read the trapped air problem really doesn't exist; despite the apparent gap, the air can be removed. I've also read that the controls are less sensitive with the full film -- initially. But after a few days of drying, this problem dissipates.

Well, I guess you already made up your mind, so why ask? I'm sure both will be fine, but I went with the cut out one for the reasons I gave.

Nope. I haven't decided which one I'll buy. That's why I posted here — to get opinions of people who have experience with the cut-out and non cut-out versions.

i have the cut-out version, and i like it. it seemed really easy to put on (i got it on the first try, plus the air is easier to squeeze out). plus, i like the way the click-wheel feels by itself. nice and smooth.

Invisible Shield

I'm thinking about getting the invisible shield but I'm worried about applying it.

Couldn't the water somehow shortcircuit it, or break it somehow? A scratched nano is better then no nano.

Also, How hard is it to apply? Do you have to remove all the dust and fingerprints first? If so, it's impossibel for me to do that. The back attracts fingerprints so easily and I just can't get them off.

Thank you.

i dipped the shield in a bowl of water/soap, and then put it on the nano. it works fine. the front was pretty easy for me to apply. i got it on the first try.

i didnt do the back because it was so hard.

So you didn't spend alot of time removing the dust?

I'm not too worried about the back, no one reallyl sees that. I'm just worried abou the front, the black part of it.

Bad Experience

I recieved my iPod nano invisible shield yesterday at 5. I installed the front, but I liked the metal feel of the back so I did not install the back part. At first I was happy.

And then I turned it on.

The click wheel does not work. It only responds to menu when I turn it on. Then, when I put it on hold, whenever I unhold it it turns it off.

Hopefully these problems will be gone by 5PM tonight.

I'm going to be doing the five R's tonight if it doesn't work.

If by monday, it doesn't work I'm uninstalling the invisible shield.

So far I advise everyone to just buy an iSee or Nano Tube

That sucks. But instead of recommending an iSee or nano tube (no screen protection), I'd recommend the click wheel cut out version of the IS.
