I recently bought a 30GB iPod Photo, and I decided to keep my FireWire cable and charger and sell my 15GB 3G iPod with the USB cable and charger that came with my Photo. The problem is, the 3G doesn't charge with the USB charger, it shows an image of a battery on it and some symbol and then shuts down. Is there a way to charge it with the USB charger? Because I really don't feel like spending more money on buying another FireWire charger.

The 3Gs don't charge from USB, and there is no way to get it to work, it is a hardware incompatibility. Obvious question... why don't you sell the firewire charger and charge your photo from the USB one?

Because those idiots at Apple didn't include a FireWire cable with my Photo, so I have to buy another FireWire cable to transfer my music, I hate USB. Another reason is that the USB cable is much shorter than the FireWire one, and it doesn't reach most of the places that I charge my iPod.
I guess I have no choice though... Thanks for the reply! |

Just sell the 3G without the 'Brick' and 'Cable' someone will still buy it BTW; what were you looking to get for it? The local Applestore still sells the older FireWire 'Bricks' for about €28.00(EUR), So it's not the end of the World. FireWire to Dock / Firewire-USB to Dock Cables are everywhere to found on eBay.
BTW; I understand why you dislike USB so much and I just want to let you know that your not alone out there!
