iPod mini Formatting

Hey all.

Having been lurking in this forum for a while as a wannabe iPod owner, I've decided that this'd be the best place to ask a question I have regarding a mini I have coming my way.

Basically, I'm up here in the freezing great white North (and to hammer home any stereotypical ideas y'all might have, we got dumped on with 80cm of snow just a week or two ago, and I had to burn seal blubber off the baby seals I was eating raw just to stay warm) so that means I can't really buy the mini here yet (online, I know, but no one's got stock except Apple retail stores), and even if I could, I'd probably get reamed by Apple's "#### Canada" tax, not to mention HST, at 15%, and that stupid CPCC Blank Media Levy.

So, I've been in touch with a friend of a friend in the states, and he shipped the mini (blue) to me on Friday! I can't wait for it to arrive, but I've got a little problem.

He's an awesome guy, and he's checked to see it's not DOA, charged it, and loaded it with mp3's for me (not that I really need any more). But he's using a PowerBook and I'm on a PC I built myself (lets just say money was a factor, or I'd be on a dually G5). Point is, I'm pretty sure I won't be able to transfer the files to my PC just using iTunes, and I know I won't be able to mount it as an external HD.

So what I'm looking for is a cheap (read: free) application to mount the drive for me so I can grab the mp3's, than re-format it so it'll work as a regular iPod mini formatted for the PC. Since this is a one-time affair, I don't mind using demo software either.

Thanks a bunch,

-Stefan
